Severe community-acquired pneumonia (sCAP) is associated with high morbidity and mortality. While existing guidelines address community-acquired pneumonia, there are no specific recommendations for sCAP. This task force, comprising 18 European and four non-European experts, aimed to fill this gap by addressing eight clinical questions related to the diagnosis and treatment of sCAP. Systematic literature searches and meta-analyses were conducted to synthesize evidence, with the quality assessed using the GRADE system.
