Cardiology
Heart failure is a clinical syndrome resulting from impaired ventricular function. It is classified into systolic dysfunction (HFrEF), where the left ventricle cannot effectively eject blood, and diastolic dysfunction (HFpEF), where the LV cannot relax or fill properly due to stiffness. The body activates compensatory mechanisms like the sympathetic nervous system and RAAS, which can become maladaptive. Therapeutic interventions target these mechanisms to alleviate symptoms and improve cardiac function.
