Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR) is defined by a fetus failing to reach its genetic growth potential, often due to maternal medical conditions, placental issues, infections, or genetic anomalies. Diagnosis involves history, physical examination, ultrasound biometry, Doppler studies, and potentially invasive fetal testing. Intrauterine Fetal Demise (IUFD) is the death of a fetus weighing over 500gm. Causes are multifactorial, including fetal anomalies, placental problems, and maternal conditions. Management for both conditions focuses on identifying the underlying cause, monitoring fetal well-being, and timely delivery when indicated, with specific protocols for IUFD to manage potential maternal complications like hypofibrinogenemia.
