Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs) are chronic autoimmune conditions characterized by muscle inflammation and weakness. Nutritional factors can influence immune responses and inflammation levels, potentially exacerbating or alleviating symptoms. This review focuses on the Mediterranean diet, which has been studied for its anti-inflammatory properties, and evaluates its role in managing IIMs. A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify gaps in current nutritional interventions for these conditions.
