The research conducted a randomized controlled trial involving 169 adults with type 2 diabetes in the Marshall Islands. Participants were assigned to either an intensive whole-food, plant-based intervention with moderate exercise or standard medical care for 24 weeks. The primary outcomes measured included glycaemic control and glucose-lowering medication use, with significant improvements observed in the intervention group, including reductions in HbA1c and medication dependency.
