Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a significant microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus, leading to increased morbidity and disability. This cross-sectional study was conducted at the Diabetic Clinic of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital from November 2023 to January 2024, involving 355 participants. The study utilized an interviewer-administered questionnaire and the Toronto Clinical Scoring System to assess DPN prevalence and severity, revealing a prevalence of 38.03%. The findings underscore the importance of timely identification and management of DPN to prevent severe complications such as amputations.
