Dr. Godfrey Bbosa
The module introduces basic principles of antimicrobial chemotherapy and detailed classifications of antibacterial drugs. It references Rang and Dale’s Pharmacology (8th edition, 2016) and Katzung’s Basic & Clinical Pharmacology (14th edition, 2018) for in‑depth study of beta‑lactams, tetracyclines, macrolides, aminoglycosides, sulfonamides, and quinolones. Additional chapters address autacoids such as histamine, serotonin, ergot alkaloids, vasoactive peptides, eicosanoids, and nitric oxide. Lectures and seminars are scheduled to reinforce the reading material. The syllabus is intended for pharmacy and medical students focusing on infectious disease pharmacotherapy.
