The systematic review and meta-analysis included studies that reported resistance training as the exposure and various mortality outcomes. A total of 10 studies were analyzed, revealing that resistance training significantly reduces the risk of all-cause mortality by 15%, cardiovascular disease mortality by 19%, and cancer mortality by 14%. The findings suggest a nonlinear relationship between the amount of resistance training and mortality risk, with maximum benefits observed at around 60 minutes per week.
