WHAT IS A CARDIAC CT CALCIUM SCORE?
JAMA
PDF20251 pages382 KB
A cardiac CT scan can determine if calcium is present in the arteries of the heart, which is crucial for identifying coronary artery plaque. The coronary artery calcium score, calculated from the amount of calcium detected, ranges from 0 to over 1000 Agatston units and strongly predicts future cardiovascular events. The document also discusses who should consider this testing and the associated costs.
