The research presents a randomized controlled trial involving 131 patients with difficult-to-treat spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP). The trial compares the treatment outcomes of patients receiving meropenem alone versus those receiving meropenem in combination with GM-CSF. Results indicate that the combination therapy significantly improves early response and resolution rates of SBP, as well as reduces the incidence of complications such as acute kidney injury and infections.
