The research is a single-group, prospective study involving community-dwelling adults aged 60 years or older who had been on a stable dosage of levothyroxine for at least one year. The study was conducted across 58 general practices in the Netherlands, enrolling participants from January 2020 to July 2022, with follow-up concluding in December 2023. The primary outcome measured was the proportion of participants who could discontinue levothyroxine while maintaining normal thyroid function.
