Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA
In the management of Gram-negative bloodstream infections (GN-BSI), shorter antimicrobial courses have shown to be non-inferior to prolonged therapy, with reduced risks of complications such as Clostridioides difficile infection. However, previous studies often excluded immunocompromised patients. This research aims to fill that gap by analyzing the effectiveness of different antimicrobial durations in neutropenic patients, providing insights into optimal treatment strategies for this vulnerable population.
