The 2026 dyslipidemia guideline introduces new recommendations for estimating atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk and identifies populations eligible for statin therapy for primary prevention. This study analyzes data from a nationally representative sample of adults to determine the implications of these new guidelines on statin eligibility. The findings indicate significant changes in the number of individuals eligible for statin therapy compared to previous guidelines, highlighting the importance of these recommendations in clinical practice.
