Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health
Intravenous thrombolytic therapy is essential for managing acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients, but the need for ICU admission post-treatment is often debated. This study reviews patients treated with Tenecteplase or tissue plasminogen activator to determine the characteristics of those requiring ICU care beyond standard neurological monitoring. The findings suggest that certain patients may safely be monitored outside of the ICU, potentially reducing healthcare costs and resource utilization.
