Stroke unit care is an evidence-based intervention that significantly reduces morbidity and mortality following stroke. While most studies have been conducted in high-income countries, there is growing evidence that similar benefits can be achieved in low- and middle-income countries. This article discusses the design and operational strategies necessary for implementing effective stroke units in resource-limited environments, highlighting the disparities in access to such care globally.
