Heart Failure Society of America
Heart failure (HF) has traditionally been categorized based on ejection fraction into reduced (HFrEF) and preserved (HFpEF) types. In recent guidelines, a third category, HFmrEF, has emerged, which shares characteristics with both HFrEF and HFpEF. However, treatment guidelines for HFmrEF are limited due to a lack of specific clinical trials. This scientific statement aims to fill that gap by reviewing existing evidence and proposing a clinical framework for managing patients with HFmrEF.
