The DAPA-MODA study investigates the impact of dapagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, on cardiac geometry and function in patients with chronic heart failure. The study found that dapagliflozin led to significant improvements in left ventricular dimensions and mass, as well as reductions in NT-proBNP levels, indicating enhanced cardiac health. The results suggest that dapagliflozin may provide benefits regardless of diabetes status or left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) phenotype. However, the study's observational design limits definitive conclusions about causality.
